Prominent leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibarapa East Local Government Area of Oyo State have declared that they will resist any external influence aimed at destabilising the state.
The party leaders also pledged to maintain unity between Governor Seyi Makinde and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Adebowale Ogundoyin.

The position was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of a meeting held on Wednesday.
The development follows rumours that surfaced on Tuesday alleging a plot by the State House of Assembly, led by Ogundoyin, to impeach the governor.
Reacting, the PDP chieftains described the claims as baseless and intended to create division between the governor and the Speaker.
The meeting, chaired by Adewuyi Ojoawo, condemned what it termed attempts by external forces to sow discord within the state.
They reaffirmed their commitment to preserving the existing harmony between the executive and legislative arms of government.
“The Forum strongly condemns any attempt by external forces to destabilise the state or disrupt the harmony currently existing between the executive and legislative arms of government,” the communiqué stated.
The leaders urged party members and residents to disregard the rumours and remain united in support of the state government.
