The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has refuted reports suggesting that some ward members in certain states were asked to revalidate their membership during the ongoing membership drive.
In a statement issued on Monday by the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the NWC clarified that the membership drive and registration of new members are solely aimed at eligible Nigerians interested in joining the party.
The NWC emphasized that the membership status, rights, and privileges of existing members remain valid and unaffected by the membership drive.

The statement reads in part: “The NWC in clear terms clarifies that the ongoing membership drive and registration of new members is only targeted at providing opportunity and access to eligible Nigerians who are enthusiastic and surging in their millions to register as members of our Party across the country.
“Consequently, no existing member is expected or required to have his or her membership revalidated as such individuals remain bona fide members of the Party and not subject to any form of revalidation.
“All members and officers of our Party, especially at all Electoral Wards across the country, should take note of the above and be guided accordingly.”
The NWC’s clarification aims to dispel any confusion and ensure that the ongoing membership drive proceeds smoothly, allowing new members to join without affecting the status of current members.
