The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State has affirmed that Governor Agbu Kefas holds the prerogative to appoint officials as he deems fit.
This statement was made by the party’s spokesperson, Andetarang Irammae, on Saturday in response to concerns about recent appointments made by the governor.
The governor recently announced a list of PDP members to serve as Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, Community Special Assistants, and Heads and Members of Boards, Commissions, and Agencies.

This list has sparked concerns among some party loyalists who are uncomfortable with certain appointments.
Addressing these concerns during an interactive session with journalists in Jalingo, the state capital, Irammae urged aggrieved members to remain calm.
He emphasized that all appointees are respected party members with significant experience in politics and governance, expected to contribute positively to the state’s development.
“All the appointees are members of our party and are persons with great pedigree in politics and governance.
They are expected to bring their wealth of experience for the good governance and development of the state,” Irammae stated.
He also mentioned ongoing dialogues between the party leadership and government officials to address the genuine concerns of party members, urging patience and understanding.
Irammae further appealed to party faithful to exercise caution and avoid escalating tensions over the governor’s decisions, reiterating that Governor Kefas has the right to appoint whoever he chooses.
“The party has a wide membership across the nooks and crannies of Taraba.
It is impossible to appoint everyone to political positions at the same time. Today it might be one person, tomorrow another.
I appeal to those who are uncomfortable with the appointments to remain calm and supportive of the government,” he added.
