Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a “dead party,” following its expulsion of Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, a House of Representatives member from Ideato North/Ideato South Federal Constituency in Imo State.
Adeyanju criticized the PDP for expelling Ugochinyere, the spokesman of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), over alleged gross indiscipline, insubordination, and anti-party activities, while allowing the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to remain a party member.
Ugochinyere’s expulsion was confirmed in a letter from the PDP Ideato LGA chapter, dated December 5, 2024, and signed by LGA Chairman Hon. ThankGod Okeke and Secretary Onyebuchi Umeh.

The letter cited a disciplinary committee report dated November 27, 2024, which found Ugochinyere guilty of misconduct under Section 57 (1-4) of the PDP Constitution (2017, as amended).
Reacting to the development on X (formerly Twitter), Adeyanju wrote:
“Ikenga Ugochinyere, the courageous one, has been expelled for anti-party by APC moles who are in charge of PDP, but Wike is still a member of the PDP.
“The jokes write themselves daily. The PDP is a dead party awaiting funeral rites.”
Ugochinyere’s expulsion has sparked widespread debate, with many questioning the party’s internal disciplinary processes and its treatment of high-profile members.
