The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has called on the nine members of the National Assembly (NASS) from the state to clarify the status of the federal government’s rice intervention intended for distribution in their constituencies.
In a statement issued on Sunday by Olusegun Olusola Adewara, the State Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Kwara State, the party referenced a viral video featuring Dekeri Anamero, a House of Representatives member representing Etsako Federal constituency of Edo State.
Anamero claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu provided each NASS member with at least two trailers of rice for distribution in their respective constituencies.
Expressing concern over the video, the PDP spokesman urged all NASS members from Kwara State, who are members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to disclose the whereabouts of the distributed rice in their areas.
The legislators in question include Senator Salihu Mustapha of Kwara Central, Oyelola Ashiru of Kwara South, and Senator Suleiman Sadiq Umar of Kwara North.
Additionally, members of the lower chamber include Raheem Tunji Olawuyi Ajuloopin, Ismail Kayode Tijani, Ahmed Yinka Aluko, MuktahTolani Shagaya, Adam Ahmed Saba, and Mohammed Omar Bio.
“The PDP in Kwara State, having patiently awaited responses from the APC legislators, noted with concern their continued silence which is no longer golden.
Based on the video made by Honorable Dekeri, each legislator is said to have received a minimum of 2,400 bags of rice,” the statement read.
The Kwara PDP demanded immediate explanations from the APC legislators and emphasized the need for transparency in accounting for the federal government’s rice intervention.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the principles of accountability, integrity, and service to the people.
