Portuguese midfielder, Ruben Neves has come out to admit that money played a part in his decision to leave English football and join Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, it is quite obvious that money played a role in his decision, but he also jumped ship because he believes the sporting project is enticing enough.

Neves added that people have no idea how Saudi Arabian football is improving in recent times.
His words, “Of course one of the things is the money. Of course, you cannot hide that. But when we see the project and I know a lot of people think we say this because just to say it, but it’s not true. When they present us with the project, it’s a very big project. I think people have no idea how the country is improving and how the football is improving here. How the football can be in a few years. In one year, we did this in the Saudi Pro League. I believe in two more years, three more years, that will be an amazing league.”
On a potential return to England with Newcastle, “I don’t go. I think that’s rumours because of the owner of the clubs, and because I played in England as well. And there was Newcastle interest before I came here. But I’m really happy here, my family are really happy, and the kids as well.”
