The Adamawa State Police Command has foiled a kidnapping attempt and arrested a suspect in connection with the crime.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on June 7, 2025, following a tip-off from a resident who reported receiving threats from an unknown caller demanding a ransom of ₦1 million.
Acting swiftly, police operatives in collaboration with local hunters launched an operation that led to the arrest of 32-year-old Manu Ahmadu at Kamsu village in Hong Local Government Area. The suspect was apprehended while attempting to collect the ransom package at a remote location in the area.
“In the course of effecting the arrest, the suspect attempted to disarm one of the local security agents, prompting a defensive response that resulted in an injury sustained through the use of minimum force,” Nguroje stated.
The police assured that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Dankombo Morris, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents and called for continued public support and cooperation in the fight against crime.
