Police operatives in Bauchi State have killed six suspected bandits and seized a cache of firearms after a gunfight in Ningi Local Government Area.
The operation led to the recovery of multiple weapons, including AK-49 rifles, a locally made single-barrel gun, a Dane gun, and various locally fabricated arms.
Authorities also confiscated 14 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and three magazines from the suspects.
Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed, detailed the incident during a press briefing at the command headquarters on Friday.
He explained that the bandits were killed in a clash with operatives from the Ningi Division, who were supported by local security personnel.
In a separate incident, police recovered two AK-47 rifles from a 42-year-old suspect, Abdullahi Ibrahim, who admitted to purchasing the firearms from his uncle for N250,000 to protect their cattle.
Alongside the weapons, 343 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition and a magazine were seized.
CP Mohammed stated that Ibrahim will face charges in court upon completion of the investigation.
