The Kogi State Police Command, weekend, paraded a fake Army Corporal, one Mohammed Usman, and 19 others for their alleged involvement in criminal activities.
Parading the suspects, the state Commissioner of Police, Paul Okafor, told journalists that Usman, while pretending to be a corporal in the Nigerian Army, duped unsuspecting members of the public.
The CP warned criminals in the state to change for better or relocate, warning that it will no longer be business as usual.
Among the suspects paraded were Hinmikalu Joseph and Michael Ogule Babatunde, who were arrested over allegations of making Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
Also, Olawumi Awe, Sunday Owa and Sule Kolo were paraded for allegedly operating an illegal arms factory.
Fielding questions from journalists, Mohammed Usman said: “I got the uniform from a soldier, who is my friend. I never stole in my life, I only used the uniform to take photographs”.
Narrating how he was arrested, the suspect said he was at home eating with friends when police arrested him for impersonation. He alleged that the arrest was because a pair of army uniforms were found in his house.
The police said they recovered two AK 47 rifles, 19 locally made single barrel guns, five wooden rifle butts, 26 cut to size barrel pipes, two vehicles and military gear from the other suspects.
