The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, revealed that President Bola Tinubu has outlined strategic initiatives to enhance food and nutrition security in Nigeria.
Bagudu conveyed this announcement in Abuja on Thursday during the 2023 edition of the Nigeria Nutrition Week at a media sensitization event focused on food and nutrition security.
Representing President Tinubu, Bagudu outlined the administration’s commitment to implementing a multifaceted approach to ensure sustainable food security.

The plan encompasses sustainable agricultural practices, the integration of climate-smart technologies, and the implementation of social protection programs.
He highlighted, “This is in recognition of the urgent need for adaptation and mitigation strategies that will safeguard our food systems and enhance the nutritional well-being of our people.”
“As part of our commitment in the just concluded COP28 in Dubai, the government of Nigeria is prioritizing the development and adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices,” Bagudu explained.
The initiatives include promoting resilient crop varieties, efficient irrigation systems, agroforestry, and sustainable land management techniques.
The overarching goal is to bolster the resilience of agricultural systems and ensure a consistent supply of nutritious food to the broader population.
President Tinubu’s proactive measures align with a broader vision for sustainable and secure food production. Stay tuned for further developments on this vital initiative.
