President Bola Tinubu has called on members of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) to disregard classifications such as federal, state, or rural roads, stressing that they all share a collective responsibility to improve the lives of Nigerians.
He emphasized the need for joint responsibility and closer collaboration between the federal and state governments to accelerate infrastructural development across the nation.
During a meeting with the NGF at his residence in Lagos on Tuesday, President Tinubu reiterated his condemnation of the recent killings in Plateau State, emphasizing the mutual responsibility of the federal and state governments to ensure peace and stability in Nigeria.

He directed security agencies to halt the violence in Plateau State and intensify efforts to apprehend those responsible for the recent tragedies in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi local government areas.
“Nigeria needs peace and stability to move forward. Nigeria belongs to all of us, and we have to take care of it,” President Tinubu stated firmly.
President Tinubu commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State for his efforts to peacefully resolve political challenges in the state, emphasizing the importance of peace for effective governance.
Regarding the 2024 budget proposals, President Tinubu informed the governors that he had a review meeting earlier in the day with the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, to discuss certain elements in the appropriation bill before the National Assembly.
Chairman of the NGF and Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq expressed solidarity with the government and people of Plateau State, praying for the souls of the departed and urging Governor Simon Lalong to stay strong.
Governor Abdulrazaq reaffirmed the NGF’s support for the decisions and reforms initiated by President Tinubu’s administration, acknowledging the challenges faced, particularly in the removal of fuel subsidies, and expressing confidence in overcoming them for a stronger future.
