A foremost Public Affairs Analyst from Cross River State, Prince Thomas Abi Jr. has called on Governor Ben Ayade to urgently rehabilitate all dilapidated roads in Ogoja.
Prince Abi lamented the poor state of roads in Ogoja which he said was most unfortunate since the town is one of the oldest towns in Nigeria.
“Ogoja is one of the oldest towns in Nigeria. She is the mother of all Local governments in Cross River but it is most unfortunate that the roads in Ogoja are in a sorry state. It is a thing of pity that the roads within Ogoja metropolis are not accessible.”
He said to further open up the town the government must immediately repair roads in Ogoja especially streets in Igoli that are not accessible.
“You know we have streets in Igoli that are impassable, very bad roads in Igoli and Abakpa, Ishibori and Ndok Junction. As one of the oldest towns in Nigeria, we cannot allow the town to remain underdeveloped”.
“Also trucks passing through the town during the day have caused a lot of havoc. I will suggest that an alternative route be open for them if we must save the lives of our people from these reckless drivers who ply our roads in Ogoja”.
He lamented that the roads have become death traps and the government needs to act fast to save the lives of the people.
“The roads have become a death trap. Motorist who ply through our roads at night are not guaranteed safety”.
Prince Abi said he is pleading with Governor Ayade to immediately repair the bad roads in Ogoja in order for the ancient city to have a face lift.
