Our attention has been drawn to allegation of card reader manipulation and possession of PVCs levelled against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and her leaders by the All Progressive Congress (APC). We debunk the report as fake news and an attempt to blackmail a winning political party.
The politically sensitive public is aware of APC’s grand plot and design to rig the last poll through multiple dubious means. The ever vigilant opposition and the mobilised people of Osun state resisted the evil plot to foist another round of pain and suffering on them.It is therefore outlandish for anybody to attribute PDP victory in the last poll to rigging. This is especially so as Osun APC is today condemnably stalling realisation of people’s will.
Alhaji Fatal Diekola and other leaders of PDP at Osogbo and other parts of the state are at the forefeont of the political liberation movement.Worried by sustained tempo of people’s revolt,APC launched a systematic clampdown on PDP leaders this morning ,arresting top leaders to prevent them from mobilising for Thursday re-run.The details are well documented.
It is therefore a badly thought out fake news to accuse Diekola and other pro- people politicians of illegal possession of PVCs.The PDP leader actually busted an APC operation where the party’s operatives were buying up PVCs of voters in ward 5,Osogbo. For showing up on that street,he was beaten up,arrested and now accused of being in possession of PVCs.
We therefore call for the unconditional release of Alahji Fatal Diekola,a true leader of the people. We urge security agencies to be impartial in this crucial election. The whole world is watching and our conduct in Osun state is becoming a yardstick for upcoming general election.
