    NEW YORK, October 30, 2014/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The Secretary-General and World Bank President Jim Yong Kim met with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed, and Parliament Speaker Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jowari today and discussed the progress being made in the transitional arrangements and on peace, security, and development issues in Somalia.

    The Secretary-General stressed the vital importance of a united political leadership in Somalia, particularly given the ongoing operations against Al Shabaab, stabilization, statebuilding, and a host of other challenges facing the country.

    The Secretary-General stressed the urgent need to set a clear timetable for enacting legislation deemed essential for implementing Somalia’s Vision 2016, including those establishing the commissions on federal state borders and election related issues.
