Remedy Shows How Patients Can See Experts Sooner With Beam: a Doctor's Visual Collaboration App on Google Glass at DEMO Enterprise 2014

The specialist can asynchronously reply with a diagnosis that gets pushed to Glass’s display, or, in urgent cases, discuss treatment options synchronously over a live video call. Beam allows a specialist to see through the eyes of the physician on scene and guide them through a procedure, a treatment plan, or a diagnosis. Clinicians at Harvard and The University of Pennsylvania have now begun using Remedy’s secure HIPAA compliant platform for patient care through an inaugural pilot program. Synchronous consults require just one click to share the first person perspective video from the provider with the patient wearing Google Glass to the remote specialist’s screen. This allows medical professionals to diagnose and discuss in real time, while delivering care. For asynchronous consults, Beam seamlessly syncs clinically relevant media taken from Google Glass to a remote expert’s screen to review. This allows doctors to make management decisions with visuals rather than with descriptions relayed over the phone. Remote specialists can respond to consult requests wherever they are through a tablet or laptop.

Beam is a secure HIPAA compliant platform designed for multimedia communication between dynamically shifting clinical teams. The app allows a remote specialist to send images, videos, text updates, GPS location and other information directly to the display on Google Glass to aid the provider with the patient.
