Brazil defender, Marquinhos has come out to urge team-mate, Richarlison to remain calm in order to end his goal drought. This is coming after his tearful outburst against Bolivia, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, he has seen players go through ups and downs during their football careers, so Richarlison should focus on taking the many goalscoring opportunities that will keep coming his way.
Marquinhos added that the striker might not be scoring yet, but his movements, pressure and positioning have been on point.
His words, “I’ve seen players go through ups and downs a lot. Football is very fast, both for good and for bad. That’s what we try to convey to him. He sits at the table next to us and we talk a lot. We already see him much lighter and calmer than he was after the game. We know that for a striker it is very important to score goals and everything, but the role he played on the field, within the game, with movements, pressure, positioning, it was very important.”
“Of course, the goal was missing to crown this beautiful performance he had in Belém, but with this style of play we have and Diniz’s philosophy, I think many opportunities will come. We try to give him peace of mind because this goal will come and It will come out at the exact moment. He also can’t be desperate to score that goal, otherwise, it will be increasingly difficult. He has to be calm because an attacker really needs that to perform in front of the goal. That’s what we talked about.”
