The 8th Assembly of the Rivers State House of Assembly has elected four principal officers of the House.
The election of the new officers followed the expiration of the 7th Assembly in the State.
Hon. Martins Amaewhule Chike representing Obio/Akpor Constituency 1 was elected as the leader of the House, while Hon. Dinebari Loolo representing Khana Constituency 1 as the Deputy Leader.
Other members elected are Hon. Evans Bapakaye Bipi as the Chief Whip of the House while Hon. Jack Major .M. as the Deputy Whip.
The members who were elected immediately took their Oath of Allegiance on the floor of the Hallowed Chambers.
Meanwhile the leader of the House, Hon. Martins Amaewhule Chike presented a Bill seeking to amend the Rivers State High Court Law No. 1 of 2014.
The Bill has passed first reading today.
