The Rivers State Police Command has cautioned parties involved in the political crisis in the state to refrain from actions that could lead to a breakdown of law and order.
In a statement on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that the Command would not tolerate any individual or group disrupting the existing peace in the state.
Iringe-Koko emphasized the Command’s unwavering commitment to upholding and enforcing law and order.
The Command urged the public to prioritize peace and compliance with the law, while also encouraging people to seek peaceful and lawful means to address grievances.
“The Rivers State Police Command is fully aware of the numerous political statements and sentiments circulating within the state.
In light of these developments, we would like to inform the general public and the esteemed people of Rivers State of the following,” the statement read.
“The Nigeria Police Force is the statutory and constitutional authority entrusted with the responsibilities of enforcing laws and orders, as well as protecting lives and properties, among others.
“The Rivers State Police Command, as an integral part of the Nigeria Police Force, is firmly committed to upholding and enforcing all laws and orders within the state.”
The command assured that it “remains neutral and apolitical in all matters pertaining to the current political situation.”
