Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has come out to say that he is considering playing Riccardo Calafiori up front amid their injury crisis. He recently revealed that William Saliba put himself forward to be a stopgap, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, his defenders have the capacity to become a threat in the box, especially against teams that deploy low blocks, so it is definitely a possibility.
Arteta added that such decisions have worked well in the past, so he is surely giving it a thought.
His words, “It’s been done in the past you know. They have this capacity to become a threat, especially in the context of the game against low blocks, it is an option that we have.”
