On Sunday, November 12, 2023, people were evacuated from Nigeria to Saudi Arabia, and the Federal Government has responded.
When they arrived at King Abdulaziz International Airport’s Hajj Terminal in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Monday, November 13, 2023, 264 travelers were informed that their visa had been cancelled, as reported by InfoStride News.
According to reports, 87 passengers were granted entry into Jeddah after clearing immigration, while 177 were forced to take the same flight back to Nigeria.

Francisca K. Omayuli, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ official spokesperson, released a statement urging calm and that an investigation was still underway.
According to the statement: “The Saudi authorities are yet to offer grounds for the cancellation of the visas, except for 18 of the passengers who were outrightly prohibited from Saudi Arabia for various acts committed in the past.
Nigeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are historic and strategic allies who are willing to guard against a recurrence of this regrettable tragedy, despite the fact that it is the prerogative of a sovereign government to select who is given admission into its territory.
Concerning this matter, probes are currently under way in both Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. Those affected are asked to remain calm until the situation is settled.
