Senate Oath-taking: Tinubu’s Wife Wouldn’t Shake The Man Who Defied Her Husband

    Tinubu Saraki

In a sign that all is not well in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of APC leader Bola Tinubu rejected a handshake from Senate President Bukola Saraki who defied her husband to claim presidency.

The drama took place on the floor of the Senate when Saraki administered the oath of office and allegiance to his rival in the contest for the Senate Presidency, Senator Ahmad Lawan and 27 others who missed their oath taking on Tuesday.

Saraki had defied the APC by going ahead to run for Senate presidency despite the party’s decision that all members of the Senate belonging to the APC should support Lawan who won the mock election organised by the party. Saraki had stayed away from the election.

The party had following his victory released a statement rejecting Saraki’s candidacy. It also said that a disciplinary action will be taken against him.

Although President Muhammadu Buhari accepted Saraki’s victory and promised to work with him, same cannot be said about Asiwaju Tinubu who apparently bears grudges against the Senate president for defying the APc and allying with the PDP for his victory.
