    Job Title: Senior Research Supervisor (2-year renewable contract)
    Employer: International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA)

    The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian Nationals for the position of Senior Research Supervisor at the Institute’s Headquarters, Ibadan.

    Position/Responsibilities:
    Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:
    • Coordination of in vitro yam and cassava breeders’ lines processing and conservation, including activities relating toin vitro cassava breeders’ lines and liaising with cassava breeders.
    • Processing of yam and cassava breeders’ lines new introduction from field
    • Supervision of acclimatization and post flask management of yam and cassava breeders’ lines
    • Coordination and processing of Yam and cassava breeders’ lines sample for indexing
    • Coordination of request and distribution of breeders’ lines
    • Sorting of necrotic and contaminated breeders’ lines PTC plantlets
    • Media preparation for in vitro yam and cassava breeders’ lines
    • Breeders’ lines data management
    • Participate in in vitro breeders’ yam and cassava clonal crops experiments on field multiplication, evaluation and characterization

    Qualification, Experience and Skills:
    • BSc / HND in plant science , Microbiology or Chemistry or any related discipline
    • Minimum of 3 years post NYSC relevant working experience on a similar role

    The ideal candidate must
    • Be able to follow instructions and work independently where necessary.
    • Be able to use laboratory equipments and understand basic laboratory techniques
    • Possess good organizational skills and demonstrate ability to work under pressure.
    • Be available to work outside office hours and for extended hours where necessary
