CS Sfaxien finished top of Group B after holding ES Setif to a 1-1 draw in the ultimate Group B match on Saturday in Sfax.
The Tunisians came from behind to level through captain Ali Maaloul three minutes from time after Gabonese Benjamin Ze Ondo had put the Algerians into the lead.
Sfaxien finished on 11 points, one more than Setif, who etched an unbeaten record at the group phase. The Algerian side won twice and drew four games at the mini-league stage.
Both teams were already certain of places at the last four prior to the encounter, but were playing to determine the winner of the group.
Setif, gave their hosts some scary moments in the opening minutes as they kept Sfaxien key-man Fakhreddine Ben Yousssef in check.
After a barren first half, the Algerians should have gone up on 52 minutes but Akram Djahnit was unlucky as his penalty was saved Sfaxien goalie, Rami Jridi.
On 64 minutes, Ze Ondo broke the deadlock scoring from a free-kick with an effort that beat the Sfaxien goalie.
The hosts had to wait till three minutes from time as Maher Hannachi was fouled in the vital area for a penalty. Maaloul’s initial effort was spilled out by Setif goalie, Abderraouf Belhani, but he responded swiftly by tucking in the rebound.
Sfaxien and Setif await their opponent from Group A, either of DR Congo duo, AS Vita and TP Mazembe. The two teams square off in the ultimate fixture on Sunday in Kinshasa.
