The Accord Party in Osun State has formally received six members of the House of Representatives who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The lawmakers announced their defection during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Osogbo on Monday, in the presence of party leaders, supporters and government officials.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Clement Akanni, who represents Boluwaduro/Ifedayo/Ila Federal Constituency, confirmed that the legislators had resolved to leave the PDP with immediate effect.

Akanni listed the defectors as Mahruf Adewale (Osogbo/Olorunda/Orolu/Irepodun), Bamidele Salam (Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo), Soji Adetunji (Ikirun/Boripe/Odo-Otin), Mudashiru Lukman Alani (Iwo/Ayedire/Boluwaduro) and Lanre Oladebo (Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan).
“On behalf of my colleagues, we have from today moved to the Accord Party,” Akanni declared.
He urged supporters to participate actively in the governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026, advising them to monitor proceedings at polling units after casting their votes.
“With our projections, 80 per cent of the votes will go to Adeleke, while the other party will get 20 per cent. We will win and all of us will be alive to witness it,” he said.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, who addressed the gathering, said his earlier decision to quit the PDP was influenced by internal challenges within the party.
“I love PDP but I had to leave to avoid being trapped in my re-election bid. We consulted widely and prayed over it, and we were guided to the Accord Party,” Adeleke stated.
Also present at the event was former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuf, who called on party faithful to remain committed ahead of the poll.
The development leaves Senator Lere Oyewumi, representing Osun West Senatorial District, as the only federal lawmaker from the state elected on the PDP platform.
Governor Adeleke had earlier joined the Accord Party in December 2025 and later secured its governorship ticket. In addition, 25 members of the Osun State House of Assembly elected on the PDP platform have also defected to the party.
Meanwhile, on February 14, 2026, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State received two senators and three members of the House of Representatives into its fold.
