Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has disclosed that additional personnel of the Nigerian Army will soon be deployed to the state to strengthen ongoing efforts to combat insecurity.
Soludo made this known on Friday in Awka during the third anniversary celebration of the Eighth Anambra State House of Assembly.
The governor revealed that a delegation from the Nigerian Army recently visited the state to assess plans for the establishment of military barracks aimed at supporting security operations against criminal elements.

According to him, Anambra is already recording significant successes in the fight against crime, with peace gradually returning to communities across the state.
Soludo attributed the progress to the support of the Federal Government and President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to addressing insecurity nationwide.
He noted that the Tinubu administration was taking deliberate steps to improve security across the country and expressed optimism that the deployment of additional troops would further enhance safety in the state.
The governor also commended members of the State House of Assembly for enacting laws that have assisted the executive arm in delivering democratic dividends to the people.
He praised the efforts of those who contributed to the development of Nigeria’s democratic system, describing democracy as the most suitable form of government for promoting the welfare of the people.
Earlier, the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Dr. Somtochukwu Udeze, assured residents that lawmakers would continue to enact legislation and pass resolutions aimed at improving their lives.
Udeze said that despite political differences among members of the Assembly, the development and progress of Anambra State remained their collective priority.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a thanksgiving mass was held as part of activities marking the third anniversary of the Eighth Assembly.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr. Law Mefor, commended the cordial relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government, saying it had contributed significantly to good governance in the state.
Mefor also praised the Speaker’s leadership style, which he said had fostered harmony among lawmakers, including members of opposition parties.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Mr. Ejiofor Egwuatu, described the quality of legislation passed by the Assembly as evidence of the maturity of Anambra politicians.
He urged lawmakers to always place the interests of citizens first and to handle differing opinions with diplomacy whenever they arise.
