    South-South Governors, Leaders Endorse President Jonathan for 2nd Term

    The South-South Governors and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan for a second term in office.

    This was the highpoint of the communiqué presented by the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Chibudom Nwuche at a meeting in Calabar, Cross Rivers State, convened by the National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mua’zu as part of his zonal tour of the south-south.

    Speaking at the event, Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is in the process of building a new Nigeria under the leadership of President Goodluck Jonathan.

    Expressing appreciation to all Nigerians for the sacrifices and contributions made through their support for President Jonathan, which as he put it, has made the south-south the foundation of the PDP.

    He assured the people of his administration’s preparedness to continually build a strong support base for President Jonathan to enable him succeed come 2015.

    In his remarks, Alhaji Mua’zu canvassed support for President Jonathan, stating that the transformation agenda is working and considering his remarkable achievements in spite of the challenges, he deserved to be re-elected.

    He underscored the need for the party to improve on its manifesto and urged members of the PDP to work together irrespective of ethnic and religious affiliations, for the progress of the country.

    According to him, no one has a choice in the circumstances of his birth or place of origin, as God alone has the power to decide the people’s fate and solicited for unity of purpose among Nigerians to achieve set goals of the administration.

    Alhaji Mua’zu, who commended the PDP Governors for their creditable performance, said the party was properly positioned in the region to deliver come 2015.

    Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Godswill Akpabio pledged the support of the Governors of the south-south geo-political zone to President Jonathan and promised to continually work hard to maintain peace in the zone.

    In his remarks, the Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwambo assured that, the Governors of the North-East would work in solidarity with their south-south counterparts to ensure victory for the party.

    The host governor, Senator Liyel Imoke and his counterparts from Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Gombe states declared total support and loyalty to President Jonathan to actualize his second term bid.

    Some of the party leaders that gave goodwill messages were Chairman, PDP Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih, former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, Senator Ita Enang, representative of the House of Representatives members from the zone, Ndudi Elumelu, Minister of Works, Mike Onolemenem, Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike.
