Former KCCA FC Striker Robert Ssentongo of Uganda who was part of the squad eliminated by El Merreikh in the CAF Champions League 2009 has cautioned the current squad about Saturday 15th February game.
He has been league top soccer 4 times 2000, 2009 2011, and 2012 as well as Uganda Cranes top scorer in the CECAFA Region in the past 5 year. Ssentongo who is currently unattached after his contract with St George of Ethiopia expired spoke to Cafonline.com after watching the KCCA FC training ahead of their tie this weekend.
“I remember we have things in common with current squad namely team work and good coaching staff, with these I think they can go through but that team El Merreikh can shock you. They don’t need to relax as the other team is better in terms of its facilities as well as finances which is a good help in football. I remember five years ago they were very aggressive and they were attack minded meaning this time they have nothing to lose and our players have stay focused to win.”
Ssentongo added that in 2009 in the return leg it was bit different because they won here in Kampala and in Khartoum they played defensively and it was 1-1 draw. “I believe this time round KCCA FC has a big advantage, the boys should stay calm not to be excited with the first win but complete the task by going through said Robert Ssentongo’’.
