Steve Tsingas to Attend Annual Power Marketers' Conference

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL–(Marketwired – Jul 15, 2014) – FERC Commissioner Philip Moeller is scheduled to give a keynote speech at a seminar on Power Marketing Challenges & Opportunities hosted by Pierce Atwood LLP, a New England-based law firm, on July 22, 2014. Moeller recently made headlines when he gave an interview on dangers of electric reliability in April, during which he spoke about potential “rolling blackouts.” Moeller was first nominated Commissioner of the FERC, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, an independent agency that regulates the interstate transmission of electricity, natural gas, and oil, by President Bush in 2006 and then again by President Obama in 2010. In his role, Moeller is responsible to help maintain safe power supply conditions.

Moeller is not the first FERC Commissioner that was invited to share his wisdom with the seminar guests. In 2012, FERC Commissioner Cheryl LaFleur, and in 2013, FERC Commissioner Tony Clark, gave the keynote address at the power marketers’ conference in Washington, DC which concentrated on the main issues and opportunities for power-marketing companies in the U.S. Leading executives from the power marketing industry are expected to attend the event in July, among them Steve Tsingas.

Getting insights on risk management options, various issues, collateral requirements, and more effective communication with ISOs and the FERC — all topics at the last seminar — can be extremely valuable for companies from the power marketing industry. Starting out as a field engineer for NETZSCH Inc., K. Stephen Tsingas (Steve) travelled all over the US and visited various businesses ranging from the largest corporations to the smallest rural companies. He soon realized that his true strength and passion was to be found in the energy industry and started working as a power plant engineer for Atlantic City Electric Company in New Jersey. He quickly moved up in the corporate world, gaining experience in great variety of departments including environmental, regulatory, engineering and finally the power-trading department. In 2005, Steve founded his own company, City Power Marketing LLC, which soon developed into a highly successful and profitable enterprise. Steve lives with his wife and two little kids in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. When he is not busy managing his company, Steve enjoys spending time with his family and supporting local charities.
