Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III has again called on politicians in Nigeria to stop politics of hatred irrespective of political differences, as 2015 elections draw nigh.
The Sultan made the call on Saturday, shortly after turbanning the Speaker of House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal as Mutawallen Sokoto.
“You should eschew politics of personalities, bitterness and hatred; these obnoxious acts should not feature during the 2015 general elections,” the Sultan said.
According to him, the country’s survival depends on the ability of Nigerian leaders to collaborate and shun selfishness.
The Sultan said Nigeria was making progress in the war against insurgency in the Northeast. “The ongoing war against insurgency and terrorism is succeeding but more can be achieved with a united Nigeria.”
He therefore urged Muslims in the country to fast on October 3, to seek for God’s intervention and mercy over the security situation in the country.
Apart from Tambuwal, others who were turbaned by the Sultan are Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Alhaji Lawalli Zayanna, as the Sarkin Gobir of Gwadabawa (District Head), state Accountant-General, Alhaji Kabiru Tafida (Sarkin Fadan Sokoto), Alhaji Aminu Iya (Iyan Sokoto) and Alhaji Fodio kyari as the Wamban Sokoto.
