The Federal Government will engage an additional 2,000 Deltans for the Community Service Women and Youth Empowerment (CSWYE) project of the Subsidy Reinvestment Programme (SURE-P).
Delta State Chairman/Coordinator of CSWYE, Sir Young Eseikpe dropped the hint while fielding questions from newsmen on the implementation of CSWYE in the State.
He said that 3,426 youths and women across the 25 Local Government areas of the State had so far benefited from the programme since its inception in September 2012, adding that N10,000 monthly stipends paid to the beneficiaries, had improved their living standards.
Eseikpe said that the beneficiaries are engaged in environmental sanitation at market places, town halls, palace areas, roundabouts, maternity premises and vigilance, among others.
The co ordinator said they Were not involved in the selection of beneficiaries nor deciding the type of projects that the beneficiaries were engaged in,but rather it is the responsibility of the benefitting communities.
Mr. Eseikpe advised the beneficiaries to be serious with their work, he however listed inadequate working equipment, mobility ,delayed payment of stipends to the beneficiaries and lack of office accommodation as major challenges.
He noted that the SURE-P committee in the State was working harmoniously with the various communities, just as he appealed to the Federal Government to sustain the programme for the benefit of the people.
