The proliferation of firearms in Nigeria has been blamed on the uncontrollable number of private jets in the country.
This was made known by the Director General of the National Task Force on Illegal Importation of Light Weapons and Small Arms (NIFIILWSM), Osita Okereke in Okrika, Rivers State.
The Task Force boss disclosed that there is increase in arms build-up in the country, particularly as the nation is drawing close to the 2015 general elections.
He further affirmed that politicians, especially Governors are in a rush to buy private jets without proper checks, which could bring in arms in order to project their political pursuit; adding that Governors could not be exonerated from the arm proliferation.
