The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) General Manager (Public Affairs), Mrs Seun Olagunju, says the organisation has increased the transformer capacity in its Ajah sub-station by additional 60MVA 132/33kV transformer.
Olagunju disclosed that the transformer was successfully refurbished and installed on July 11.
She said that this had increased the station’s transformer capacity from 132kV to 220MVA.
Olagunju said that the newly installed 60MVA 132/33kV power transformer had replaced the old 60MVA transformer which failed on August 2016.
She said TCN was also installing a 60MVA 132/33kV mobile power transformer in the same station to further increase transmission capacity in the area.
The spokesperson said that installation works had reached advance stage and that on completion, the transformer would increase the transmission capacity at the substation to 280MW above the distribution load requirement in the area.
She said that the increased capacity of the Ajah transmission sub-station would result in the wheeling of additional power to the distribution load centres supplying electricity to Ajah and environs.
Olgunju said that the company would continue to work and expand its capacity to ensure the nation’s grid stability. (NAN)
