
Three Nigerians have been arrested in the Philippines after they were caught with banned substances.
Specifically, the three Nigerians were identified as Benjamin Enemuo, 28; Chidubem Nwonu, 22 and Ifeanyi Ofoma, 22.
They were nabbed in two separate drug busts in Cavite on Monday night. Equally important, the three Nigerians were arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA); Inquirer.net, a medium based in Manila reports.
Meanwhile, the authorities seized some P10.8 million worth of crystal meth and marijuana from the men. Further, the PDEA said the first buy-bust operation was conducted at 9pm. Monday, in Barangay Navarro; General Trias City. This resulted in the arrest of Enemuo and Nwonu.
The arrest of the suspects yielded a kilogram of crystal meth worth an estimated P6.8 million. Around 11:30pm, a second sting operation was conducted in Barangay Bacao I, General Trias City, which resulted in Ofoma’s arrest.
Also recovered from Ofoma was some 5,000 grams of marijuana worth P600,000; 500 grams of shabu worth some P3.4 million and a digital weighing scale.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja has convicted a former Managing Director of the defunct Finbank Plc, Mr Okey Nwosu.
Nwosu was jailed for stealing N18bn belonging to the bank.
The judgment was handed down by Justice Lateefa Okunnu. While delivering the judgment, Justice Okunnu stated that the charges against the convicts were proved beyond reasonable doubt.
However, Nwosu was not convicted alone. Nwosu was jailed along with three directors of the bank. They are Danjuma Ocholi, Dayo Famoroti and a lady, Agnes Ebubedike.
