The Nigeria Customs Service, Tin Can Island Port Command, has recorded a revenue generation of N138.940 billion between January and June this year as against the amount collected same period in 2013, which stood at N108,901 billion.
The breakdown showed that the amount collected this year surpassed that of the previous year with N30,039 billion, in what the leadership described as a major achievement since the take-over of destination inspection regime by the Service.
The Customs Area Controller, Jibrin Zakare, who was excited about the revenue figure, described it as the highest so far in the history of the Customs Command.
Zakare attributed the high revenue yield to the success of the Destination Inspection regime under the Customs administration.
Comptroller Jibrin also said the high revenue generated this half-year was a clear manifestation of the benefits of Pre-Arrival Assessment Report, PAAR, in the ports as part of the Destination Inspection regime. [Vanguard]
