President Bola Tinubu has approved a comprehensive restructuring of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), relieving Hon. Emeka Atuma of his position as Chairman and appointing Emeka Nworgu as his replacement.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who announced significant changes to the Commission’s management, including the replacement of all three executive directors initially nominated and the addition of two new executive directors.
Hon. Mark C. Okoye retains his position as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Commission.
However, Tinubu removed board member Donatus Eyinnah Nwankpa from the 16-member board, which now has one more member than its initial composition.
Stanley Ohajuruka has been named the new Executive Director of Finance, replacing Anthony Ugbo. Toby Okechukwu is the new Executive Director of Projects, taking over from Obinna Obiekweihe.
Chief Sylvester Okonkwo has been appointed as Executive Director of Corporate Services, succeeding Dr. Daniel Ikechukwu Ugwuja.
The two additional Executive Directors, Chidi Echeazu and Clifford Ogbede, were nominated without specific portfolios.
The President retained several key board members, including Barr. Ugochukwu H. Agballah, Hon. Okey Ezenwa, Chief Hyacinth Ikpor, Barr. Ifeanyi Agwu, Nasiru Usman, and Hamma Adama Ali Kumo. Others retained are Edward David Onoja, Orure Kufre Inima, and Joke Adebayo-Chukwuma.
Onanuga stated that all appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
President Tinubu urged the new board members to leverage their expertise and experience to fulfill the Commission’s mandate and drive the development of the Southeast region.
