President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said his visit to Benue State is not a mere formality but a show of genuine solidarity with the people as they mourn the loss of hundreds of lives in recent attacks.
The President made this known on Wednesday during his visit to Makurdi, the state capital, in the wake of the killing of over 200 residents in Yelewata, Guma Local Government Area, allegedly by suspected herdsmen.
Addressing stakeholders and community leaders, Tinubu said:
“We are here not just to show our faces but to share in your grief and condole with you over the loss of lives that has occurred.”

The President’s visit forms part of the Federal Government’s efforts to address the recurring violent attacks in the state and to reassure the people of Benue of its commitment to restoring peace and security.
