A 2-storey building, yesterday, collapsed at Ologuneru in Ido Local Government area of Ibadan, Oyo State, trapping a tipper driver identified as Kabiru.
Dozens of others working at the uncompleted building site however escaped unhurt.
Officials of Oyo State Government, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps and other agencies have been drafted to the site of the collapse to rescue the trapped man and sieve through the rubble to be sure no one else was trapped.
One of the survivors who preferred anonymity said there were many of them mixing granite and cement to deck the middle floor of the building.
According to the survivors, before the collapse of the building, there was a deafening noise around 2pm which made all of them to run out of the building.
”But, one of us was about coming out when the building collapsed. We struggled to rescue him and others. The man under the debris is a tipper driver.
”He had supplied many loads of granite. He was told to transfer one of the heaps of granite to another place. When his boys were trying to reload the granite, he said he wanted to have a short nap having told his boys to wake him after loading the sand.”
The engineer supervising the project was said to have run away immediately the building collapsed.
