Toke MakinwaToke Makinwa will be launching her memoir ‘On Becoming’ on Sunday, 27 November, 2016. She shared the invitation on her Instagram.

The book depicts her childhood days, how she struggled after the demise of her parents, facts about her failed relationship(s), and the woman she has now become.

Below is a compelling excerpt from the book:

I got on my knees in front of him, my voice calm as I can make it. “Maje, you can’t keep lying. What is going on?

He walks away, leaving me there with my heart in my hands. I see him pacing, like he is having a private conversation. Then all of a sudden, he walks back to the living room, looks straight into my eyes and says, ‘She’s pregnant’.

I fall to the ground. My head….

    ‘What’s she having?’

    ‘A boy,’ he says.

    ‘How long have you known?’

‘I’ve always known…. It was what I thought I wanted,’ he says.

I bet you can’t wait to grab a copy. It will be released in bookstores across the nation on November 28, 2016.
