SAN FRANCISCO, CA–(Marketwired – Mar 4, 2014) – ToutApp, the sales acceleration platform that helps teams close more deals faster with the power of tracking, analytics and templates, is “going all Tout” for National Salesperson Day, by shining a light on the unsung heroes of the technology revolution: salespeople.
To celebrate National Salesperson Day, ToutApp will host a happy hour celebration for salespeople at Marengo, in San Francisco on Friday, March 7. All proceeds from the event will be donated to non-profits that are part of the Tout for Tout program.
While Silicon Valley is renowned for the hackers and entrepreneurs that set out to transform people’s lives with amazing technological innovations, it’s been proven time and again that salespeople are at the core of company growth, and the proliferation of products and ideas.
“Salespeople are not just cold-calling sales machines — they are data-driven, strategic and analytical,” said ToutApp CEO Tawheed Kader. “The salesperson’s ability to represent products across the globe has spurred the adoption of new ideas and technologies like CRM and smartphones, and powered the growth of countless businesses. We are dedicated to helping the people that play this crucial role in our economy do their jobs, and we encourage everyone to take a moment to recognize the essential work done by salespeople every day.”
Salespeople Lifted By the Flood of Information
The technological revolution has given buyers more information than ever before about a company’s products and services. One might think all this data would diminish the salesperson’s role, but instead it has only grown more important as it continues to evolve at a rapid pace. Today, the salesperson’s job is to be consultative, to help educate, to help identify and evaluate needs, to connect, and through that process, to sell.
Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed that the number of sales jobs reached 15.8 million in the United States last year, accounting for more than 12 percent of the entire workforce. Plenty of attention has gone to the growing role of software engineers and technology entrepreneurs in shaping our world, but without someone to sell their innovations, these new creations would be wasted.
On average, 17 percent of the workforce at today’s top-growing companies are salespeople. This includes eight percent of the employees at Google, 17 percent at LinkedIn, and 30 percent at Box. They are the unsung heroes of Silicon Valley.
