After the electoral petition tribunal nullified their election, two members of the 8th Adamawa State House of Assembly voiced their displeasure.
They both belong to the State’s All Progressives Congress (APC) opposition party.
They didn’t agree with the election results that were pronounced inconclusive by the National/House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal.
Both members, Ibrahim Musa of Mayo Belwa and Babangida Muhammad Njidda of Nasarawo Binyeri, have promised to challenge the rulings against them.
The elections at five polling units in the two constituencies were declared unlawful by the tribunal in separate rulings regarding appeals submitted by Musa Mahmud Kallamu and Umar Nashon Gubi, both of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Due to irregularities, the tribunal ruled that the results of the Mayo Belwa constituency’s elections at the Chokkol Joda, Wuro Aminu, and Wuro Mana I units were inconclusive.
In addition, it ruled that voting in the Bura Manga unit of Nasarawo Jereng Ward and the Sitim Koleni unit of Nasarawo Binyeri constituency on March 18, 2023 was invalid.
Legislators from the APC have vowed to file an appeal.
Lawmakers have stated that they will have their attorneys receive a copy of the certified genuine judgments, review them, and then file an appeal with the Court of Appeals.
