Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has described skill acquisition as one of the best ways to get the unemployed youths gainfully engaged.
He said that his administration was working towards encouraging youths to acquire vocational skills and decried situation where Nigerians leaves artisanship for foreigners and go around complaining about lack of empowerment.
The Governor who was speaking when a notable film producer and director, Jeta Amata paid him a courtesy call in Government House, Asaba, stated that there are ready jobs for artisans in the country.
The Governor said, there are jobs for artisans, yet the youths are complaining of joblessness, adding that the State have a lot of youths who can be trained to contribute towards the development of the society.
He observed that the Niger-Delta Legacy Project which is being sponsored by the Government of the United States of America was a worthy project as it would empower youths and give them a voice to express their views without being violent.
While promising to assist the organizers of the reality show, Governor Uduaghan expressed joy that Delta State has become a haven for the film industry and commended the organizers of the Legacy Project for commencing their programme in the State.
Mr. Amata said the US Department of State has approved the reality show which entails visiting communities in the Niger Delta where seven persons will be selected from each of the communities, trained and empowered to tell their stories through motion pictures.
