The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang was at the convocation ceremony of the University of Uyo confered with honorary Doctorate degree in Law.
The Senate of the University, according to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Mrs. Comfort Ekpo, decided to honour Senator Ita Enang for his contributions to humanity, the nation and to the University.
Senator Enang according to his citation, was specifically honoured because of his contribution to the promotion of democracy and legislative process in the country
He is reputed to be the only Nigerian yet on record to have gone through all legislative cadres in all tiers of government from the cradle to the highest.
He was the scribe of the Students’ Parliament and Councillor in Itu L.G.A. of Akwa Ibom State. He also served as a legislator in the State House of Assembly, the House of Representatives and the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Also honoured during the occasion were Mrs. Folurunsho Alakija, the richest woman in the country, who was honoured with doctor of humanities, and a folk song musician, Chief Uko Akpan Ekpo with honorary doctorate degree in Music.
