Sokoto State Government said on Saturday that it has paid N600 million counterpart fund for the project execution under the tripartite Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 2017 Government Track.
The State’s Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Bala Kokani, disclosed this in Sokoto at a news briefing to mark the two years in office of Gov. Aminu Tambuwal.
He also stated that N31million was paid to 775 families, under the SDGs Conditional Cash Transfer, in Gada, Gudu, Tangaza, Illela and Tureta local government areas.
Kokani explained that each of the benefiting families was given N40, 000 as exit allowance, to further reduce poverty.
”N54million was spent on the establishment of the State Coordinating Office of the Special Intervention Programme.
”In the same vein, about N 90million was paid as counterpart funding to the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA).
”Similarly, N9.5 million was also paid for Digital Google Training of 2,691 unemployed youths across the 23 local government areas of the state,” he added.
Kokani further said N16 million was expended on the provision of logistics and other essentials, for the smooth take off of the Bureau of Statistics in the state.
He added that N 5.4million was also spent on data generation and production of State Statistical Year Book, 2016.
Kokani reiterated the commitment of the ministry to continue to coordinate developmental activities in the state.
According to him, this will be done by partnering with the relevant organisations and agencies, both domestic and international.
”This will surely help in bringing about the much-needed economic transformation of the state,” he averred.
