Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has explained his frequent trips out of the state by stating he needs to find resources to help the state recover from its security and economic crises.
While speaking with reporters from the Farin Wata TV station in Gusau, the state capital, the governor made the announcement.
In an effort to restore trust in the state, Governor Lawal said his travels had helped convince international and domestic donors who had cut off support because of widespread corruption among public officials to resume their contributions.
He predicted that major improvements to the state’s educational and healthcare facilities would resume once trust in the administration had been restored.
Lawal reported that the state government has received donations of medical equipment and medications from international organizations in an effort to revive the state’s stricken healthcare system.
Speaking on the security difficulties affecting the entire state, Governor Lawal pointed out that the Community Protection Guards deployed by the government were being trained by security agencies to adequately carry out their task.
He added that they would be supplied with sufficient weapons and logistics to make the mission a success.

The Governor pledged that necessary measures will be implemented to recover embezzled public monies and judiciously punish criminals and cautioned public officials to cease from all sorts of corrupt practices or be removed from office.
