Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, met with the leadership of the National Assembly.
According to Punch, the VP had a meeting with the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Reps Speaker, Yakubu Dogara to discuss the 2017 budget and the economy.
Reports say the meeting which held at Osinbajo’s office in the Presidential Villa, had Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udo Udoma and the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun in attendance.
After the meeting, Saraki praised the economic team led by the VP for their efforts, reports say.
He also debunked reports that lawmakers are already having problems with the 2017 budget.
The Senate President said “We have just started the defence so there are no issues. These are just consultations.”
“We, I mean myself, the Vice-President and the Speaker, Minister of Budget and National Planning as well as the Minister of Finance met on the economy and the budget.
“We are aware that the economic team will soon be going on a road show and the meeting was meant to brief us and let us know the issues and carry us along,” he added.
Reports say that the Federal Government has also sought the approval of the Senate to raise $1b through Eurobonds.
