Governor Ramalan Yero of Kaduna State has described the All Progressives Congress, APC, as a desperate sinking ship for accusing him of running a religion-based campaign.
APC had on Monday accused Governor Yero of breaching the peace accord in the state saying the governor was running a religious campaign that could set the state on fire if care is not taken.
The spokesperson for the APC Campaign Organization in the state, Samuel Aruwan said: “The state government now are running a very dangerous religious campaign. They are at present inciting religious sentiments in the state in order to tarnish the good name of Malam El-Rufai. They are presently circulating text under the name ‘Breaking news’ and pamphlets in churches against us”.
Reacting to the allegation, Yero, through his Director General, Media and Publicity, Ahmed Maiyaki, said: “the APC cannot deceive the entire people of Kaduna State who have appreciated the effort by Governor Yero to sustain peace and development of the state.
“We wonder how the APC can accuse Governor Yero of trying to breach peace in a state that he has worked so hard to stabilize in the last two years. A man can surely not destroy a house that he has laboured to protect for so long and which he is still a shepherd”.
He said the “APC must desist from its new antics of trying to create disaffection on the basis of religion or ethnicity in Kaduna State”.
The governor, therefore, called on people of the state to disregard the “bickering” of the APC and go about their lawful businesses without fear of intimidation.
“To the APC, the 2015 election seems to be an end, but for us and the good people of Kaduna State it is just a means of deepening democracy, freedom and liberty to choose credible leaders”, Mr. Yero added.
