Youth Development Ministry Report) – The new Minister of Youth Development, Boni Haruna has underscored the importance of the Youth Development Ministry in the affairs of the nation, declaring that it is the most critical and sensitive ministry given that its mandate covers over 65 percent of the country’s population, who are in the age bracket of 18-35 years.
Boni Haruna disclosed this in his office on Thursday March 7, 2014 during his interaction with the management staff of the Ministry and its parastatals.
The Minister announced his intention to run an open and transparent administration and pledged to work assiduously with all stakeholders, in order to effectively address the issues of restiveness among the youth. He reasoned that this way, the Ministry will be able to bail the country out of the current insecurity of lives and properties.
Boni Haruna declared his passion for the youth, promising to add value and to bring positive change to the lives of the teeming youths of Nigeria. He also expressed gratitude to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for his transformational leadership style and for appointing him.
Speaking earlier in a welcome address, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Henry Akpan on behalf of the management staff of the Ministry and its Parastatals expressed welcome to the new Minister, noting that because of the past achievements of the Minister in the area of youth advocacy and empowerment, he believes that the Ministry would be adequately repositioned to deliver effectively on its mandates under his administration.
Henry Akpan pledged the cooperation of the staff of the Ministry and its agencies towards ensuring that the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan is delivered to Nigerian youths during his tenure.
