The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) has approved dates for the party’s ward, local government, state, and national congresses ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The NEC also fixed the date for the party’s national convention and released the prices for nomination forms for various elective positions.
The decisions were taken at the 25th NEC meeting held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Friday, where the timetable for congresses, primaries, and the national convention was ratified.

According to the schedule, ward congresses will be held on May 21, 2026, followed by local government congresses on May 22, while state congresses are slated for May 23, 2026.
On primary elections, the party said House of Assembly primaries will take place on May 24, House of Representatives and Senate primaries on May 25, and governorship primaries on May 26, 2026.
The national convention and presidential primary have been fixed for May 30, 2026.
The party also announced nomination fees for elective offices, stating that expression of interest forms will be free, while nomination forms will cost N1.5 million for House of Assembly, N3 million for House of Representatives, N8 million for Senate, N20 million for governorship, and N50 million for the presidential ticket.
The NEC further approved a 50 per cent concession on nomination fees for aspirants below 40 years, women, and persons living with disabilities.
It added that the sale of nomination forms has commenced.
For Anambra State, the NEC resolved that the position of State Chairman be zoned to the Anambra Central Senatorial District, while the position of State Secretary remains in the Anambra South Senatorial District.
The committee also approved that elections at all levels within the party would be conducted using both consensus and direct primary methods, in line with the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act.
