The Zamfara State Government has dismissed rumours linking the delay in salary payments to political developments or a possible defection of Governor Dauda Lawal to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa, the government said the delay is not peculiar to Zamfara but part of a broader nationwide financial and banking challenge.

According to the statement, the state is engaging relevant authorities at the central level to resolve the issue and ensure prompt payment of outstanding salaries.
“The government categorically refutes any claims or rumours suggesting that the salary delay is connected to any political developments, including speculations about the defection of His Excellency, Governor Dauda Lawal, to the APC,” the statement said.
It described the claims as unfounded and urged the public to disregard them.
The government appealed to civil servants and residents to remain calm and patient, assuring that workers’ welfare remains a priority and that efforts are ongoing to clear all outstanding payments.
It also advised citizens to avoid spreading unverified information and rely on official communication channels for accurate updates.
