The Zamfara State Government has confirmed a peaceful protest on Wednesday by residents of over 30 villages in Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area, who marched to the Government House in Gusau to demand urgent intervention over persistent killings and abductions.
Hundreds of demonstrators, mainly elderly women and nursing mothers from Jimrawa village in Dan Isa Ward, accused the government of neglecting their plight amid worsening bandit attacks.
Many recounted losing relatives to killings and kidnappings, while others said scores of residents remained in captivity.

Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa, in a statement, said Governor Dauda Lawal sympathised with the affected communities and pledged to relay their concerns to the Presidency and relevant federal agencies.
He noted that internal security falls under the exclusive responsibility of the Federal Government but stressed that the state had established the Zamfara Community Protection Guards and provided vehicles, logistics, and other assistance to federal security agencies in the state.
Dantawasa urged residents to remain peaceful and vigilant, warning against political interests exploiting their grievances.
